Quito Recommended Accommodations
We searched out the best small establishments with a local flavour to them. Mansion del Angel and Hostal de la Rabida (see photos, below) have ensuite bathrooms, friendly and helpful service, and are in convenient central locations.
However, if you're interested in a larger hotel with more amenities then check out the unbiased hotel reviews on TripAdvisor. Among the best of the bunch are:
Le Parc Hotel ~ glamorous & chic hotel with designer type rooms
J W Marriott ~ the place to stay if you want air-conditioned-hot-and-cold-running-satellite-TV; ask for a non-smoking room with a view of the volcano
Four Points Sheraton ~ decent chain hotel in a convenient location

This hotel used to be in the New Town, and we stayed there in 2008 and 2009 and had no complaints. Since then the owners have closed the original hotel and re-opened in a new location halfway between the Old Town and the New Town. They tell us the service and management are the same. Just as before, this a turn-of-the century mansion that was restored and converted into a 15-room boutique bed-and-breakfast. The décor is oldy-worldy, with antique furniture, gilt mirrors, hardwood floors, and fresh flowers everywhere. All guest rooms are non-smoking, and have telephone, cable TV, toiletries, hairdryer, bathrobes and a safe; some have a whole separate sitting room. American-style breakfast is included, and they serve it in a little glass-enclosed patio.

Hostal de La Rabida

Single, Double, and Triple rooms available
$67 - $101 inc taxes
extra $4 - $5 for breakfast
Another traditional home that was converted into a small hotel. It’s not super luxurious, but it is a charming and cosy place. Located in the New Town, the hotel has 11 rooms with cable TV, phone, toiletries, a safe, and down comforters. There’s a restaurant and bar, a communal sitting room with a fireplace, and even a small library. Breakfast (not included in the room price) is served in the garden, the same place you’ll find their friendly pet rabbit. |
